‘Boo-coups’ of choices for celebrating Halloween in region

OCT. 26 HALLOWEEN IN THE PARK — SNYDER The Snyder Chamber of Commerce will sponsor Halloween in the Park from 6-8 p.m. Friday. All activities will be free and held across from the county barn. To register for a booth, call the chamber at (325) 573-3558.

OCT. 27 TRUNK OR TREAT — SPUR The Spur Area Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring Trunk-or-Treat in downtown Spur. The event will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. in the church parking lots near the Lawrence Brothers grocery store. The chamber is actively seeking participants to bring their decorated vehicles and candy to make these family-friendly festivities fun. If you can’t come to Trunk-or-Treat, you can still help support it by donating candy or cash. For more information call (806) 474-5757.

OCT. 27 HALLOWEEN MASQUERADE BALL — SPUR The Freedom Church of Spur will be hosting a Halloween Masquerade Ball/ Costume Party (after Trunk-or-Treat) from 8 to 11 p.m. for 6th to 12th graders. Admission is $5 and includes a mask. The event will be held at the Freedom Church Activity Center and includes a dance to benefit Freedom Church Youth and the Spur Area Chamber Of Commerce.

OCT. 27 FALL FESTIVAL — GUTHRIE Guthrie Common School District has its fall festival slated for Saturday, Oct. 27 getting underway at 6 p.m. Activities include bounce houses, booths, bingo, a meal and a silent auction.

OCT. 27 FALL FESTIVAL — ASPERMONT Aspermont ISD will be hosting a fall festival at the school, starting at 6:30 p.m.

OCT. 31 HALLOWEEN HAYRIDE — DICKENS The Annual Dickens Halloween Weenie Roast and Hayride, sponsored by the Dickens County Sheriff’s Department and the Dickens Volunteer Fire Department, will be Wednesday, Oct. 31. The weenie roast starts at 5 p.m. and will be followed by a trunk-or-treat and a trick-or-treat hayride. The hayride will start with the trunk-or-treat on the west side of the courthouse.

If you want to participate in the truck-or-treat or if you want the trick-or-treaters to stop at your house, please contact the sheriff’s office to be added to the list.

After the hayride the Nazarene Church south of the courthouse will be offering free hot chocolate and cookies.

OCT. 31 TRUNK-OR-TREAT — JAYTON Trunk-or-Treat will be Wednesday, Oct. 31 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the Jayton Church of Christ parking lot.

OCT. 31 TRUNK-OR-TREAT — CROSBYTON The Crosbyton Chamber of Commerce and Agriculture and Crosbyton CISD will be hosting a trunk-or-treat, pumpkin-decorating contest and costume contest at 4:30 p.m. at the Crosbyton CISD circle. OCT. 31 TRUNK-OR-TREAT — RALLS Ralls Downtown Square, Wednesday, Oct. 31 at 6 p.m. Citizens, churches, businesses, nonprofits and school organizations are needed to hand out candy. Please call Marissa Martinez at (806) 853-2558 to participate. Donations of candy can be dropped off at the Ralls City Office.

OCT. 31 TRUNK-OR-TREAT — ASPERMONT Hosted by the Stonewall Memorial Hospital District Foundation downtown in front of the courthouse at 5:30 p.m.

OCT. 31 STONEWALL CO. 4-H FAMILY FUN NIGHT EXTRAVAGANZA at the Stonewall Community Center 5 to 8 p.m.

The meal will be spaghetti, garlic bread, salad and dessert, and the cost will be $10 per person, $5 for three and under. After the meal there will be fun and games from 6:30 to 8 p.m. including bingo, cake walk, photo booth, monster-picking, witch’s hat ring toss, “spider races,” pumpkin bowling and more.

There will also be a costume contest, pumpkin-decorating contest and a coloring contest.

Treat bags will be handed out to all kids and students.
