Calvin Hays and Henry Chapman attended the American International Junior Charolais Association show last week in Belton.
They spent the week competing in various contests, attending leadership sessions and showing their heifers. It was a hot but successful week.
Both of the boys competed in Prepared Speaking, with Calvin Hays placing 2nd and Henry 3rd. Their Quiz Bowl Team was 3rd.
They competed in Team Fitting, Team Sales, Breed Association and Herd Promotion Poster Contest and the Art Contest.
Calvin Hays showed CHCC Miss Sticky Fingers a.k.a. Peep in the Bred and Owned Show and placed 5th. Bred and Owned means that the exhibitor not only owns the cow being shown but also the dam and was responsible for the sire selection.
Henry showed HDC Miss HoneyBee in the owned show and placed 5th.
Calvin Hays showed Peep in the Owned show and placed 6th. The owned show simply means that you own that cow and may or may not have own the dam.
They also competed in Bryan at the Texas Junior Charolais Association Show.
Calvin Hays placed 2nd in prepared speaking and Peep was 4th in Bred and Owned and 5th in Owned.
Henry placed 2nd in Impromptu Speaking, and HoneyBee was 5th in her class in the Owned show.
Their quiz bowl team also placed 3rd.
