AlessandroDona is Hermleigh’s foreign exchange student from Turin, Italy. According to a Hermleigh ISD Facebook posting, Ale has fit in perfectly at their school and in their community. He’s adjusted well to their lifestyle, with every experience for him being something brand new.
Last week, Hermleigh played a JV football game at Jayton. They also have a foreign exchange student from Italy. Before the game, the two Italians had the chance to meet—discovering that both, improbably, hail from the same city. After a few broken words in English to each other, the Italian quickly started to flow. Turin, Italy, has a population of almost 900,000, so the two didn’t know each other before last night.
Two youngsters over 5,000 miles from home, who chose to move to different towns in rural West Texas, had the chance to connect while playing a sport they’ve never learned till now—to the delight of fans unable to follow most of their conversation.
