The list of winners for the 2024 Will Rogers Medallion Awards was released earlier this month by the organization, and debut author Sequoyah Branham from Kent County is on it.
The ranking of the winners will be announced at the organization’s 2024 Banquet and Award Ceremony, to be held in Fort Worth on October 19, 2024.“This has been an exceptional year,”organizers posted on Facebook. “We received the largest number of entries in our organization's history. Our judges had an incredibly difficult time making their selections, as the quality of the books, films, and recordings were extraordinary.”
Branham’s novella“In the Company of Cows”is among the winning titles in the Western Inspirational category. The book tells the story—with details drawn from Branham’s own life experiences in working cattle—of a young woman who must make difficult choices to keep her family’s herd together.
