Even though it is summer, Dickens County 4-H has been very busy already.
Maddee Foster attended District 3 Teen Leader Lab. While there, she participated in leadership activities and was also the voting delegate for Dickens County to elect district officers.
Lynndee Foster, Maddee Foster and Rylee Foster also competed in the District 3 Horse Show. Lynndee placed first in sorting; her partner was Cooper Carroll from Crowell. Unlike all the other 4-H contests in the horse show, in this one contestants are able to compete with members from other counties. Lynndee and Cooper have qualified for the State Horse Show to be held later this summer.
Henry Chapman and CalvinHays Chapman attended a three-day Meat Judging Camp at Texas Tech University. While there they learned about carcass grading, carcass evaluation and meat science quiz bowl— and enjoyed some really good food and fun games.
In a judging contest the final day, CalvinHays placed 1st in Carcass Yield/ Quality grading and 4th overall. Henry placed 11th overall.
