Dickens County 4-H’ers attend District Round Up

THREE STUDENTS TAKE 1ST PLACE AWARDS

On April 30 the Dickens County 4-H members attended District 3 Round Up in Vernon Texas. They competed in Share the Fun (a talent show contest), Educational Presentations and Consumer Decision Making.

Luciana Reese Castro earned fourth place in the Vocals category with her performance of “Somewhere Over the Rainbow.”

Educational Presentations are a key component of the 4-H youth development program. These presentations typically involve the member researching a topic, preparing and delivering a PowerPoint presentation to an audience. This contest is not about only sharing knowledge but also help in developing public speaking and leadership skills. Seven members competed.

In the Junior category, Henry Chapman took 1st place in the Beef category, presenting on Cattle Bloat.

In the Intermediate category, CalvinHays Chapman took 1st place in the Ag and Natural Resources category with a presentation on Meat Judging in the Real World.

Paisley Smith took 1st place in the Horse category with a presentation on EPM.

Hallie Irons and Maddee Foster took 2nd place in the Horse category with a presentation on Grooming.

Rylee Foster took 3rd place with a presentation on Knife Safety.

In the Senior category, Lynndee Foster took 2nd place in the Horse category and is State Round Up qualifier.
