For more than a decade, Jayton has celebrated Winterfest, a multifaceted community celebration to kick off the December holiday season, in the heart of its tiny town. This year, the newly repainted and reroofed gazebo on the courthouse square will be a lighted focal point as well.
This year’s festivities are scheduled for the evening of Wednesday, Dec. 4 at the Kent County Emergency Services building from 4 to 7 p.m. A wide variety of items will be available for Christmas shopping needs, including home decor, baked and canned goods, books, jewelry and personal care items. Vendor spaces are still available; contact L’Rae Lee, lrae. lee@ag.tamu.edu An electric light parade will begin at 7:15 p.m., followed by a visit from Mr. and Mrs. Claus. Hot chocolate and cookies will be served at the Kent County Community Center on West 4th St. starting at 4 p.m.
