During its first meeting of 2025 on Wednesday, January 13, the Kent County Lions Club introduced new members Cody and Stephanie Allen, and Lauren Huff, JGISD band director. President Shirley Long read minutes of the club’s December 16 meeting, noting plans for a fundraising raffle (which was drawn Dec. 23); thanks for a $5,000 donation from solar industry firm Clearway, which has operations in the county; and thanks to those who helped serve the barbecue meal at the county’s junior livestock show January 11.
Treasurer Christy Long noted a current bank balance of $7,949. Future events and program topics were discussed, such as community-wide Bingo; a Valentine’s Day event; and upcoming programs on such topics as food safety training. | THETEXAS SPUR
