The Patton Springs Rangers were back on the road this past Friday as they traveled to Dawson to meet the West Texas Home School Oilers. With the taste of victory still fresh from their win against Cotton Center the week before, the Rangers looked to capitalize on a second victory.
Coming out in the first quarter, Rangers freshman Ralphie Garza (#21) would find sophomore Devon Jones in the end zone for the touchdown.
The Oilers were on the search for answers but they would not find any. With a 7-0 lead, the Rangers came to life in the second quarter, scoring six touchdowns against the Oilers. Previously injured senior Leon Quilimaco (#11) led them with four touchdown receptions.
Despite the Rangers’ onslaught, the Oilers refused to be shut out, scoring a touchdown in the final minutes of the first half and a successful PAT.
The Rangers emerged hot in the second half, finishing off the Oilers with three more touchdowns. Junior Kyle Davis (#5) completed two receiving touchdowns in the third quarter and freshman David Leyva (#25) completed one rushing touchdown in the early fourth quarter, bringing the competition to a 45-point difference, thus ending the game.
The final score was 56-8, Rangers.
