The Andrew Kent Soil and Water Conservation District in Jayton offers a $500 annual scholarship to qualifying Jayton-Girard ISD graduating seniors and post graduates planning to enroll in an undergraduate program at an accredited institution ofhighereducation (private or state supported colleges or universities).

Post-graduate students currently enrolled full-time in an accredited college or university are required to provide, along with the application, a one-page essay related to soil and water conservation.
Current graduating seniors planning to enroll full-time in an accredited college or university are required to provide the standard application, as well as providing a 2½-minute oral presentation to the AKSWCD board of directors.
The oral presentation and one-page essay should state how the student can contribute to the awareness of natural resource conservation and how he/she might be able to achieve this while utilizing his/her college major. If the major course of study does not relate to agriculture, wildlife management, natural resources, or environmental issues, be creative and communicate how anyone in any field can share the message of conservation with others.
The application and related documents are due in the SWCD office by Monday, April 7, 2025. The office is located in the Kent County Courthouse at 101 N. Main Street, Jayton.
