The Spur Bulldogs traveled to Munday on Friday, Nov. 15, 2024, for the first round of the playoffs versus the Newcastle Bobcats— but it turned out to be their last of the season. Spur fought the fight but came up short, 74-22, wrapping up an outstanding 2024 varsity football season, undefeated in 10 prior games.
The stands were filled with fans, and the atmosphere was perfect for a football playoff game. The Spur Bulldogs took the field confidently and ready to play. Spur won the toss and elected to receive in the first half.
Newcastle scored first, but the Bulldogs responded with #6 Ace Walker scoring; the field goal attempt was no good. The teams were neck and neck up and down the field. Walker scored two more times, including a kickoff return, and #1 Brody Dempsey kicked the extra points. The team never gave up and fought the fight until halftime. “I am very proud of the season that the kids had,” said Coach Hamilton. “They overcame lots of adversity this year, and it was all because they stepped up and worked hard. The managers, statisticians, cheerleaders and fans did a great job. Thank you for all of your support of the team. You are greatly appreciated.”
The community and school are indeed proud of the great season the 2024 football team played. Keep your head held high and continue to work hard. Thanks for the great season.
Once a Bulldog, always a Bulldog. Now—on to the next!
