What an amazing day it was at SGA! The weather was totally on point, and we had 22 golfers show up to show off their skills to try to claim the Club Championship titles and bragging rights Your 2024 Club Champions are as follows: Men’s Division, Jimmy Ashley; Men’s Senior Division, Daniel Perez; Ladies’ Division, Aubrey Luke; Ladies’ Senior Division, Janie Day. Congratulations, Champions!
The annual member meeting and meal was held following the Club Championship round. Reports were given by the board members regarding finances and the future progress of our course. We are headed in the right direction, and great things are ahead for SGA.
The board member positions of Betsy Arnold, Tyler Luke and Jason Tanner were up for election. Tyler Luke and Jason Tanner were re-elected to the board to continue on for another two-year term. Congratulations go to Kayla Bateman, who was elected to join the board and will fill a two-year term. We know Kayla will do a great job of serving and know she will definitely add even more value to what is already a great board!
We would like to thank outgoing board member Betsy Arnold for her service to the board and the course over the last two years. Thank you, Betsy, for your wisdom and knowledge in helping out when needed and keeping things on track and growing!
Scramble results, September 24. Once again, we were blessed with absolutely beautiful and perfect weather for last week’s Scramble Time Tuesday. The course looks so green after the blessing of the recent rain we received thanks to the good Lord above! We had 25 scramblers show up for the fun, and 6 teams were formed.
Coming in to claim the 1st-place winnings this week was the team of Bryan Edward Thomas, Daniel Perez, Mike Day Janie Day with 3 under par and a score of 33. Way to go, team!
The team of Woodrow Stiewert, Tyler Howard, Eddie Clark and Freddy Gonzalez and the team of Tra Howell, Stephanie Beaty, Floyd Starkey and Bryan Beaty came in tied at 2 under par and a score of 34. It was decided among the teams that a draw of the dominoes would need to take place in order to break the tie for the week. The Stiewert team took home the 2nd-place bragging rights and winnings. Third place was claimed by the Howell team.
Landing his drive on the No. 8 green at 10 feet 2 inches from the hole for the week was Andy Garcia. Way to go, Andy!
Continuing on to roll and grow is the No. 1 money pot, as no one landed on the green again last week.
