On Tuesday, Aug. 27, the Spur junior varsity Bulldogs traveled to Hermleigh to play the first game of their season. Spur fans and athletes alike are excited to have enough players to field a JV team this season.
The Bulldogs played four full quarters against the Hermleigh Cardinals. The Bulldogs came out on top after trailing the Cardinals for most of the game. They started and finished with a great defensive game. The JV Bulldogs were fired up, scoring with less than two minutes of the game remaining to making the score 18-20 Spur.
The JV squad was able to hold the Cardinals from scoring and picked up their first win of the season. The Bulldogs fought the whole game and never gave up. Their work ethic certainly showed and paid off.
Interim Coach Hamilton stated, “I was very proud of them for fighting from behind to win the game. The team showed lots of character and determination to win their first game.”
The Bulldogs are looking forward to a great season! Spur JV will play Thursday, Sept. 5, at 6 p.m. All are invited to come out to Jones Stadium and cheer on our Spur Bulldogs.
