Tee Hale, who teaches 3rd through 5th grade science at Spur Elementary, was awarded a $1,000 grant from the Community Foundation of West Texas which will be available for his science classes after September 1, 2018.
“I submitted a proposal to provide a 1 to 1 student to electronic device ratio,” Hale said. Currently his science classes use first-generation iPads. First generation iPads were produced in 2010-11.
“Now, everyone will have their own Google Chromebook to use in class,” he said.
Since he has 15 students in his fifth-grade class, the grant wasn’t quite enough to get all of the Chromebooks, he had to use a little of his budget, but the grant covered the lion’s share of the expense.
Hale, who grew up in Spur, graduated from SHS in 1998 and received his college degree from Texas State University. After living in California for a time, he came back home to Spur.
This is Hale’s fifth year of teaching at Spur Elementary.
