Aspermont 4-H fall extravaganza set for Oct. 31
ASPERMONTz—The Stonewall County 4-H Family Fun Night Fall Extravaganza Dinner is set for Wednesday, Oct. 31 from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at the Stonewall Community Center. The meal will be spaghetti, garlic bread, salad and dessert, and the cost will be $10 per person, $5 for three and under. After the meal there will be fun and games from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. including bingo, cake walk, photo booth, monster-picking, witch’s hat ring toss, “spider races,” pumpkin bowling and more. The games will be $.25 each, and bingo costs will be (per game/card) $1 each. There will also be a costume contest, pumpkin decorating contest and a coloring contest; first, second and third place prizes will be given. Coloring pages may be picked up at the courthouse in the County Extension or Judge’s Office. (Coloring contest age categories 3-4, 5-6, 7-8, 9-10, 11-12, 13–adult). ‘Tiny Art’ exhibit opens at 1818 Art House Nov. 8
SNYDER—The 1818 Arthouse is hosting “Tiny Art!,” a new exhibition of diminutive scale and is seeking entries. The kick-off reception with miniature foods, music, art activities and more will be Nov. 8 from 4 to 8 p.m. This is a show and sale—everything entered will be displayed, as long the guidelines below are adhered to. This event is also a fundraiser for the 1818 Arthouse. Exhibition Rules: – All artwork submitted must be the original work of the artist entering. – Artwork may not be larger than 10 inches in any direction. – The entry fee is $5.00 per piece or 3 entries for $10.00. No limit. – All artwork entered must be listed for sale. The 1818 Arthouse retains 25 percent of all sales. – Artwork should be received at the 1818 Arthouse before 6:00 pm, Nov. 3. – 2D artwork will be hung via command strips/hooks. – All art must be labeled on the back with the artist’s name and the title of the piece. Next CCPMM Quilt-in-a-Day project will be Dec. 1
CROSBYTON—A group of budding fabric artists have been coming together at the Crosby County Pioneer Memorial Museum to make a quilt in a day. In October they made a fall-themed quilt. Their next meeting date will be Saturday, Dec. 1, 2018. The project is being planned by master quilter Barbara Hadderton for students with varying skill sets in fabric design. Each session has a theme and the December 1 theme will feature a Christmas stocking. Motley County clinic reopens
MATADOR—The Motley County clinic reopened last Monday. Daphne Meredith, LVN, and Samantha Jameson, administrative assistant, are available to assist with appointments with the telemed physician, Dr. Sidney Ontai of Victoria, TX. Ontai is a professor with the Texas A&M School of Medicine and director of the De Tar Healthcare System’s residency program. Ontai previously had a family medicine practice in Plainview. He will provide a monthly on-site clinic in October and December. The clinic will be operated by the Plainview Foundation for Rural Health Advancement, which also has clinics in Turkey, Hart and Earth. Retta Knox, RN, is the foundation’s executive director and will be the clinic manager. Pediatric telemed visits with the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center Department of Pediatrics can also be arranged at the clinic. —The Caprock Courier
