Here we are again at that most rewarding time of year for graduates and their families—and the teachers, administrators, fans and community members who have cheered them on during twelve years of studies and achievements.
With summer approaching, my calendar’s color codes reflect where I will be dogsitting and housesitting. All the families who call on my caretaking services have dogs (each family has more than one, in fact). The pets and I are on a first-name basis.
AUSTIN— It’s official. Fort Hood, named for a high-ranking Confederate officer in the Civil War, has been renamed Fort Cavazos, in honor of native Texan Richard E. Cavazos, the country’s first Hispanic four-star general.

Patrick presides over the Senate and is worried many bills that have made it out of House committees but have not gone before the full chamber will not be considered before the session ends.
