A crowd of people made their way down to Swenson Park Monday night, June 26, excited to serve as extras in a music video for Lubbock-based Americana band Flatland Cavalry’s newest tune. The song, “Last American Summer,” debuted June 30, but participants got to listen to the song a few days early.

Senate passes tax bill as second special session begins

AUSTIN— The Texas Senate on the first day of the Legislature’s second special session unanimously passed a tax bill last Wednesday that increases the homestead exemption and includes a pay hike for teachers, the Austin American- Statesman reported.
