New books, new readers at the Spur library

A couple of months ago I listened to an audiobook on our Overdrive. I was in a hurry and searched through my Libby App for audiobooks available now. After scrolling through dozens of titles I came across “Before She Was Helen” by Caroline Cooney.

Ideas for small gardens

Continuing with our spring theme of gardening ideas, today we look at how raised beds can have a place in the garden plan. Most simply, raised bed gardening is the strategy of growing plants in soil that is higher than ground level. Raised beds are terrifically versatile.

Shrimp tempura

Tempura batter is about the easiest way to give seafood and vegetables a coating that is light and crispy when fried. It can even be used on other meats and poultry. My favorite ways to prepare and eat shrimp are sautéed, roasted or grilled.

Back in the saddle at the Spur library— with some new books to read

If you’ve noticed my absence at the library and around town, it’s because I became Covid-19’s latest victim from Dickens County. While convalescing I managed to listen to a couple of books on my Libby app on my phone.
