Western Texas College board appoints Dr. Laurie Sharp president, names interim through Dec. 1

SNYDER— At their board meeting on Nov. 10, 2025, the Western Texas College board of trustees unanimously appointed Dr. Laurie Sharp as president. Dr. Sharp will succeed Dr. Barbara Beebe and begin her responsibilities on December 1, 2025.

Spur Senior Citizens Menu

The Spur Senior Citizens Center, located at 210 Burlington Ave., serves a noon meal Tuesday through Thursday. The dining room is open, or if you feel more comfortable, we offer a curbside lunch you can reserve by calling (806) 271-4472. A donation is always appreciated.

History buffs get a taste of Texas red—and a glimpse of Dickens past

It was a perfect melding of fall traditions in Dickens County Nov. 8: a delicious and nourishing lunch of 10 different chili recipes, plus an afternoon spent touring the remnants of Dickens County’s past underneath the blue sky and golden leaves.
