Star Feed & Seed Big Buck Contest underway for 2023-24

A hunting tradition kicking off every November for more than two decades is underway once more— the annual Big Buck Contest sponsored by Star Feed & Seed of Spur. Star Feed & Seed's Big Buck Contest is open to all licensed hunters who hunt in Dickens County and the eight surrounding counties.

It should be a 2027 two-wheel-drive single-cab Freightliner that will haul 2,500 gallons of water with lots of fire hose storage on top of the tank, said Fire ChiefWess Abbott, with a 1,250-gallon-per-minute Hale fire pump.The custom fabricated storage compartments will contain all the firefighting equipment needed for structure fires and other rescue calls. | COURTESY PHOTO
