Tumbleweed Smith, whose colorful commentary “The Sound of Texas” has been on the airwaves of the Lone Star State for more than 55 years, has been tapped for induction into the Texas Radio Hall of Fame on November 1, 2025. The ceremony will take place at the Broadcast Museum in Kilgore.

SNYDER— The Western Texas College board of trustees this week announced Dr. Laurie Sharp as the lone finalist for the position of college president. Dr. Sharp will succeed current president Dr. Barbara Beebe, who earlier this year announced her plans to retire in January 2026.

IT’S PUMPKIN HARVEST TIME again in Floyd County, Texas, with pumpkins of all varieties shipping from various locations in the area, 30 trucks a day.
