Local and area basketball teams garner postseason awards

Area high school teams went deep in the 1A basketball playoffs this season, and the honors announced recently reflect just that. The Jayton Jaybirds made school history by winning the 1A Division II title for the third consecutive year.

Spur PTO hosting spring bingo fundraiser March 28

The Spur Parent Teacher Organization is inviting the community to their first annual Spring Bingo Night on Saturday, March 28. While Bingo has been a fan favorite at their annual Fall Fest, this is the first spring event for the community. Everyone will be playing to help raise money for the PTO.

It was an atmosphere of “been there, done that” as the Jayton Jaybirds rode their playoff poise to take a win over the Ira Bulldogs in the Region II-A final, 58-38, in the March 6 game played in Lubbock’s United Spirit Arena.

Cara Paschall, daughter of Cap Rock Telephone employee Lisa Paschall and a graduate of the Spur High School Class of 2021, recently received her white coat in physical therapy from Hardin-Simmons University, according to a social media post.
