Jaybirds, Lady Jays to honor senior players

DISTRICT 15-A BASKETBALL LEADERS PREPPING FOR PLAYOFFS The traditional Senior Night for Jayton High School basketball players will be held in Jayton’s gym Friday, Feb. 6. Both the Jaybirds and Lady Jays will face Rotan, with the girls tipping off at 6 p.m.

Dickens 4-H earns diverse local, national honors in January

January has been a busy time for Dickens County 4-H. While most of the club participated in the Dickens County Stock Show, some took to the road for other shows. Paisley and Steeley Smith both participated in Fort Worth equine events and brought home several top prizes.
SPURETTES BASKETBALL The Spur varsity girls basketball team had a week of wins last week.They defeated the Motley County Lady Mats on the road 70-11 and the Paducah Lady Dragons 86-7. Crucial road game coming up for Bulldogs, Spurettes

After last week’s wintry weather, both the Spur Bulldogs and Spurettes are hoping for a warmer welcome as they travel to Guthrie Feb. 6 for games with basketball playoff implications.

Jayton basketball teams take care of Aspermont

As if anticipating the approaching cold weather, both the Jayton Jaybirds and Lady Jays applied the heat to visiting Aspermont Jan. 22, 2026, in home district games. The boys defeated the Hornets 86-28, and the Lady Jays exacted some revenge with a convincing 48-33 win over the Lady Hornets.

Bulldogs pick up first district win over Guthrie

A road win in district basketball is a tough gig, but the Spur Bulldogs showed they still have some bite in their game, defeating host Guthrie 49-39 on Jan. 20.
