Cap Rock Telephone accepting scholarship applications

According to Cap Rock Telephone’s December newsletter, two categories of scholarships are now open for applications.
The cooperative’s Scholastic Achievement Award, which is intended for graduating seniors who live within its service area, is accepting applications through Thursday, Apr. 16.

Big wins for Spurettes in Eula Holiday Tournament

The Spur Spurettes gifted themselves some post-Christmas wins after the short holiday break, winning two of three games in the Eula basketball tournament Dec. 30-31.
Coach Colton Rogers’ team is now sitting at .500 on the season at 11-11, with district looming. Motley County comes to Spur Jan.

For the first time in ten years, Spur High School has a student competing in Austin at the UIL Congressional Debate Meet. Junior Saegan Molina, daughter of Audra and Joe Molina, will speak Jan. 7 on the University of Texas campus. Should she advance to finals, Saegan will be competing at the Texas State Capitol Jan. 8. Lady Jays drop league opener to Aspermont

The District 15-A basketball slate began Dec. 22 for Jayton’s Lady Jays. The opening district contest was an away game in Aspermont, with the host Lady Hornets taking the win, 46-34.
“It was one of those games that we just couldn’t make a shot,” Lady Jay head coach Kevin Chisum said.
