LEVELLAND—South Plains College congratulates more than 660 students who were named to its Spring Deans’ List. To qualify, students must earn a GPA of 3.25 or higher and complete a minimum of 12 credit hours. Four students from Dickens and Kent Counties were named to the list: Brooklynn Castro of Girard; Jadah Sallee of Jayton; Wylie McCormick of Spur; and Wyatt McCormick of Spur.
SAN ANGELO—Angelo State University in San Angelo, Texas, has announced the students achieving the Dean’s List designation for the 2022 spring semester. To be eligible for the ASU Dean’s List, fulltime undergraduate students must maintain at least a 3.25 grade point average (GPA) on a 4.0 scale.
PATTON FFA HONORS On May 5 Patton Springs competed in the District FFA contest. Eight banners were brought home; in addition, Patton had five area qualifying speeches and one district officer.

MCMURRY SIGNING Brynn Yanez, who graduated from JGISD last week, also signed a letter of intent last week to run track with McMurry University in Abilene.
GOOD-BYE TO SIX-MAN After serving Patton Springs ISD as head football coach since 2018, Eric Johnson has accepted a new position. Johnson will be leaving six-man football behind for an 11-man football team at Burkeville High School, near the Louisiana border. Students and staff took time last week to honor Johnson and give him a warm sendoff.
