Stanaland, Vargas lead Jaybirds to bi-district trophy

The Jayton Jaybirds met the Guthrie Jaguars Thursday night in Knox City for the first round of the 2025 state playoffs and despite being banged up, cruised to a 56-6 victory at the half.
Immediately following the game Coach Josh Stanaland gave his thoughts: “Always nice to win a playoff game.

Dickens County 4-H Food Challenge teams demonstrated their culinary skills at a competition in Wichita Falls on November 12.
The Junior 1 team, comprised of Steeley Smith, Latti Abbott, Tiberlyn Phillips, and Gentry Bilberry, achieved an impressive 2nd place finish in the dessert category.

Jayton to face Guthrie in bi-district football playoff

Near neighbors will be playing for the bi-district title this week in the Jayton versus Guthrie matchup.
The Jayton Jaybirds, the reigning state football champions and winner of 2025 District 6-1A, will face the District 7-1A runners- up, the Guthrie Jaguars, Thursday, Nov.
