Zarate medals at state XC tourney, finishing 5th Spurettes finish 6th, Bulldogs finish 7th

The Spur girls’ cross country team finished as the sixth best 1A team in the state of Texas at Saturday’s state meet in Round Rock. The Spurettes represented Spur for the fourth consecutive year at the state meet.

Undefeated. District champions. #1 in the state.

Jaybirds rout Raiders for district title

The Jayton Jaybirds went into last Friday’s game against the Lueders-Avoca Raiders with two goals in mind. The primary reason to win was to secure the Region 2 District 7 title that has eluded the Jaybirds for several seasons.

Area runners competing at state XC meet Saturday

Spur and Patton Springs runners will be competing Saturday in Round Rock at the state cross country meet. The Spur boys’ and girls’ teams both qualified for state competition. David Reyna and Melania Ramirez from Patton Springs qualified for the state contest as well.

Injury strikes Rangers during 2nd district game

The Silverton Owls and the Patton Springs Rangers met on the Rangers’ turf last Thursday night, Oct. 31, for what would be a big game. With both teams coming off a loss from their first week one of district play, these boys were ready to duke it out.

Bulldogs pluck the Cardinals 58-6

HERMLEIGH — The Spur Bulldogs (2-1) took another step toward the playoffs Friday night, defeating the Hermleigh Cardinals 58-6 (1-2). With the mercy rule, the game only lasted one half.

Patton Springs State XC Qualifiers

Spur XC state-bound

The Spur boys’ and girls’ cross country teams have qualified for the state cross country competition Saturday, Nov. 9, 2019 in Austin at the regional competition in San Angelo on Monday. The boys won the regional championship and the girls finished third. Both qualified for state.
