Spur names Zacchaeus Carter new head boys basketball coach

The Spur Bulldogs have selected a new head boys basketball coach for the 2026–27 season. On July 17, the Spur ISD announced the hiring of Zacchaeus Carter. Coach Carter is a native of Garland, Texas, but is also familiar with West Texas, having played college basketball for the McMurry War Hawks.

We had 26 players show up again ready to play some golf, and six teams were formed. There was a 2-way tie for 1st place and a 3-way tie for 3rd place. A playoff for 1st place went tied for 3 holes, and then a chip-off was decided.

The Spur Senior Citizens Center, located at 210 Burlington Ave., serves a noon meal Tuesday through Thursday. The dining room is open, or if you feel more comfortable, we offer a curbside lunch you can reserve by calling (806) 271-4472. A donation is always appreciated.

Recent Spur ISD graduate Kimberlee Segura and her sister, Khloee Segura, competed with the West Texas Wildkats girls basketball teams Friday through Sunday in Las Vegas, Nevada. Kimberlee played with the 17-and-under Elite team, which placed second in their age group.
