Spur hosted the district track meet last week, with 11 athletes advancing to area in than 20 events at area in Post Wednesday, April 15 (results not available at press time).

The Jayton Jaybirds and Lady Jays had a great district tennis tournament last week, taking home the girls, boys, and overall district championships. Top two finishers advance to regionals: Sophia Nino, district champion in girls singles, and Kirby Miller, district champion in boys singles.

Jaybirds shut out by Hamlin, but take out Aspermont

After dropping a 12-0 contest to league-leading Hamlin April 3, the Jayton Jaybirds returned to winning form April 6 with a 20-5 knockout of the Aspermont Hornets.

MOLINA ON TO REGIONAL On Tuesday, Spur High School’s tennis team competed at district, with Keylee Molina had a playback won it, to come in 2nd in girls singles and advance to regionals. In boys singles, Brylan Bridge came in 3rd. In mixed doubles, Adrian Garza-West and Dana Parnell came in 3rd. On April 4 at the Dickens County Courthouse, Dickens County 4-H, in conjunction with the Dickens Do Gooders, held their 5th annual Easter egg hunt for ages 3 years all the way up to 5th grade. They had several different age groups.
