After a loss to league-leading Hamlin March 24, the Jayton Jaybirds baseball team bounced back with a win over Aspermont March 28 to move the Jaybirds to 3-1 on the season and 2-1 in district play.

A big first inning against the Baird Bears March 24 propelled Coach Hillary Bleiker’s Jayton Lady Jays to their first district win, 24-9. Junior Lauryn Rosa led the team with a three-run home run in the first inning to start the offensive outburst.

Last Thursday, while fire departments from Dickens, Spur, McAdoo, Motley County, Floydada and the Texas Forest Service were fighting the 435-acre Bell Fire in northern Dickens County, a drone entered airspace over the fire.
