For the past two months, a new club has been meeting at the Spur school to play chess. The group meets on Monday afternoons in the cafeteria for practice and over the board games. Spur Chess has upcoming matches with other teams, and plans to play in area tournaments as they reinstituted following Covid-19 shutdowns.

Girl Scout Troop 7115 delivered donations of cookies as appreciation for the heroes of our community last Thursday. The girls collected these “Cookies for Heroes” donations from customers during the spring sale and honored some of those community heroes that serve and care for our town and county residents. Those honored were the Kent County EMS, the Kent County Sheriff department and the Kent County Courthouse staff. Girls also plan to deliver future donations to the Kent County rural health clinic staff, the local food pantry volunteers, and the Kent County senior citizens program staff. Cory Hamilton, Gunnir Bateman, Le’Zhane Walker and Craig Leary competed Saturday in Austin at the State Track Meet. The Bulldogs boys 4x200 relay finished 5th, and they finished 4th in the sprint relay.
CHEER SQUAD NAMED 2021–22 Spur HS Cheerleaders were announced recently: Gavin Arnold, Alyssa Fulmer, Kristen Gonzales, Sam Joplin, Bucki Smith, Emily Swaringen and Tatum Walker. The Spur Mascot is Chelsea Davis.
