AUSTIN—The latest report on child maltreatment fatalities and near fatalities, compiled by the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services, indicates 251 children in Texas died in fiscal year 2020 due to abuse and neglect. That figure includes 28 children who died after being left unattended in hot vehicles.

“We are pleased to report that the active Covid-19 cases in Dickens County have remained minimal for the last few weeks,” reported emergency management coordinator Wess Abbott for the Dickens County Office of Emergency Management on April 2, 2021. “We will discontinue the weekly updates. Should the active case numbers spike, we will resume our weekly updates.”
