The game of golf has a long and proud history in Spur—going back to the mid-1930s, when Dickens County was looking to lure a Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) camp and a State Park to the area.

Founded in 1959 as a tribal newsletter, today it counts a circulation of 24,900 with more than 150,000 weekly readers. If you haven’t figured it out by now, we’re all about the Route 66 reads. As in maps, magazines, road signs, bumper stickers and travel guides. But especially, in free moments when we aren’t behind the wheel, books.
