ONE ACT HONORS The Jayton One Act Play production of “We All Fall Down” was selected to advance and compete at the bi-district meet to be held Tuesday, March 31 in Munday. The play is set during the end of the Vietnam War and depicts the experiences of soldiers, nurses and a young Vietnamese girl as the American evacuation of South Vietnam approaches. TEAM OF THE WEEK Last week, Lubbock’s KCBD-TV selected the Jayton Jaybirds as their Hoop Madness Team of the Week. Sportscaster Pete Christy praised the team for winning their thirdstraight State championship—the first 1A team to do it since Snook in 1981-82-83. Jayton beat Kennard 78-45 to win the 1AD2 title; the Jaybirds finished the season 29-3. | KCBD PHOTO

INSTALLATION OF NEW WINDOWS in a historically appropriate style has begun this week at the Dickens County Courthouse, after a lengthy period on order. In July 2025, county commissioners accepted a sole bid of $345,000 for replacement of 43 Peerless windows and $37,300 for three doors, which are approved by Texas Historical Commission standards for historic buildings.The repair was required to mitigate persistent leaks. | TEXAS SPUR
