Spur Senior Citizens Menu

The Spur Senior Citizens Center, located at 210 Burlington Ave., serves a noon meal Tuesday through Thursday. The dining room is open, or if you feel more comfortable, we offer a curbside lunch you can reserve by calling (806) 271-4472. A donation is always appreciated.

Remember the birds

From the garden January gardens have little to look at, at least plant wise yet the grey skies over winter landscapes are bustling with hungry birds. The human/bird relationship is reciprocal: we provide sustenance for birds while they give us hours of enjoyment as we watch and tend to them.

LIBRARY NOTES

This week we pause to honor the memory of Joe Gutierrez, a well loved member of our community whose recent passing has deeply touched so many. Joe gave generously of his time and talents to our town, and his kindness will be remembered for years to come.

LONGTIME SPUR EMPLOYEE DIES AT WORKSITE

On the afternoon of Dec. 17, 2025, an accident on a water-line worksite in Spur claimed the life of a longtime city works employee. Joe Gutierrez, 46, of Spur, was killed shortly before 2 p.m. in what officials called a cave-in at a utility trench near Carroll Ave. and 5th Street in the city limits.
