Highway 70 Garage Sales set for May 2

GOOD WEATHER PORTENDS GOOD SALES FROM ROARING SPRINGS TO JAYTON The annual Highway 70 Garage Sales is scheduled for Saturday, May 2, with more than 40 vendors signed up as of Tuesday along a 60-mile stretch of two-lane blacktop, according to co-organizer Joan Day of Spur.

Spur shows up strong at Region I UIL meet

The South Plains College campus was a friendly place to the Spur High School regional qualifiers who spent their April 24 representing Bulldog and Spurette Nation. Four Spur students will now advance to the State UIL meet to be held on the University of Texas campus May 18-19 in Austin.

South Plains EMS honors Dickens EMS’s Edinburg, Gardner for service

On April 11, 2026, Donna Edinburgh and Debi Gardner of Dickens EMS were both awarded the Mark Beck Humanitarian Award at the South Plains Emergency Medical Services annual conference, according to their EMS colleague Marcella Bilberry.
