15-year landmark naming rights agreement with Galaxy to incorporate NIL opportunities and investments into West Texas region

LUBBOCK— Texas Tech Athletics last Friday announced a landmark 15-year naming rights partnership with Galaxy to rebrand the home of Red Raider Football as Galaxy Stadium, beginning with the 2026 season.

Kent County Commission, June 22, 2026: Discussions continue with Crusoe Energy

It was noted that a special meeting of the Kent County Commission was held Wednesday, June 17, at 9 a.m., to discuss Crusoe Energy abatement details and to discuss a UKA wind lease on Jayton-Girard ISD land. Minutes of this meeting were not available prior to the June 22, 2026, regular meeting.

From the garden With temperatures nearing triple digits it is hard to believe but it is time for preparing the fall vegetable garden. Even though it is hot now think about the conditions in September and October—sunny days, moderating temperatures and cooler nights.

My neighbor sent me a text asking if I knew where to purchase butavan flavoring. I have to admit, I didn’t know a combination of butter and vanilla flavoring is commonly known as butavan. The reason my little neighbor was searching for butavan was to make a batch of mini-muffins.

Spur’s Smith, Weiser earn 3rd place award at FCCLA nationals

Spur students Paisley Smith and Allie Weiser were in Washington D.C., earlier this month, representing Spur ISD at the National FCCLA Conference. Competing in Entrepreneurship Level 1, the girls presented a project featuring Cowgals Snowcones, a local business owned by Smith.
