Rev. Jeganathan Arulsamy, known to the local St. Mary’s Catholic parishioners as “Father Jegan,” oversaw his last mass in Spur this past Sunday. He will now be the priest for St. Philip Benizi in Idalou and San Lorenzo in Lorenzo.

The Spur Senior Citizens Center, located at 210 Burlington Ave., serves a noon meal Tuesday through Thursday. The dining room is open, or if you feel more comfortable, we offer a curbside lunch you can reserve by calling (806) 271-4472. A donation is always appreciated.

BARBARA BRANNON | TEXAS SPUR Spur has been taking some serious actions recently to improve its streetscapes and quality of life, and in the city council’s regular meeting of Aug. 19, it’s sounding like those efforts are paying off.
Other activities at the Motley-Dickens event included recognitions given at the Saturday morning reunion, compiled here from the organization’s social media. The rodeo queen—the candidate from Dickens or Motley County who generated the greatest amount of ticket sales—was recognized as Bre Chavez from Motley County.
