The Spur Senior Citizens Center, located at 210 Burlington Ave., serves a noon meal Tuesday through Thursday. The dining room is open, or if you feel more comfortable, we offer a curbside lunch you can reserve by calling (806) 271-4472. A donation is always appreciated.

From the garden TheKnoxCountySafety Rest Area landscape qualifies as a xerophytic mini-botanic garden. Xerophytic plants are those that are able to survive in environments with little water. The term ‘xerophyte’ comes from the Greek xeros, meaning dry, and phyton, meaning plant.

I enjoy making mug cakes in the microwave for little individual desserts. But I recently discovered the mini Bundt pans for baking tiny delights in the microwave. The ones I purchased are plastic, but most likely silicone cake pans would also work for this recipe.

The Jayton One Act Play company of “Peter and the Starcatcher,” Area winners, took their show on the road April 23-24 to the Regional meet at Angelo State University in San Angelo. Overall they received 3rd, and were named State Alternate.
