Election Day for city and school races in Texas Spur Country will be Saturday, May 5, 2025. Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. to registered voters with valid IDs. In Spur incumbent Spur mayor Louise Jones will not run for re-election. On the ballot for Spur’s mayor will be John R.

Dickens 4-H beautifies annex, Springs entry

On April 25, Dickens County 4-H members, who had the day off from school, assisted the County Courthouse staff to help beautify the Dickens County Annex and the Dickens Springs entrance. They cleaned the beds and planted flowers and shrubs.

When the Bob Wills crowd pulled out of Turkey on Sunday, their RVs left ruts. It was a muddy few days. But the stormy weather didn’t keep die-hard fans of the King of Western Swing from having a good time in Turkey, despite cancellation of the Saturday morning parade.

District 3 4-H held its Meat Judging Contest at Texas Tech University on April 17, 2025. The contest featured six placing classes, which included both carcasses and retail cuts; two questions classes; and 15 retail IDs (which include species, primal, retail and cookery) for juniors.
