Guthrie, Paducah boys’ basketball teams chase Jayton, seeding in 5-1A playoff picture

The Guthrie Jaguars surprised the Spur Bulldogs 59–46 Friday night, dropping the Bulldogs out of the seeding—for now—for basketball playoffs. As of press time, the three teams poised for the playoffs by being #1, #2 and #3 in District 5-1A standings are Jayton, Guthrie and Paducah.

New golf association in Spur organizes, sets first fundraiser

A dedicated group of recreational golfers has worked hard over the past year to ensure that Spur continues to make its historic and popular municipal links available even after the retirement of longtime manager Mike Day.

Spur to host Dickens County candidate forum Feb. 8

On Tuesday evening, Feb. 8, from 6:30 to 8 p.m., The Texas Spur and the Spur Area Chamber of Commerce will co-host a County Candidates Forum for Dickens County voters to meet candidates in several county races, and post questions for their consideration.

DETERMINING DISTRICT The Spur Spurettes will host the Lady Jays of Jayton Friday night in Spur. Jayton is undefeated and Spur has one loss—to Jayton. If Spur wins, they will be poised to be co-champions of the district with Jayton.
