Bulldogs win district in track Friday

The boys’ varsity track team jumped out in front at the Friday district meet and raced full steam ahead to win the 5-1A title, putting up 181 points. Fourteen athletes qualified for the Area meet April 14 in Post. The area qualifiers are as follows.

Steady rise in pedestrian fatalities rings alarm bells

AUSTIN—As spring arrives, more and more Texans will take to the streets, and TxDOT has an important message for both drivers and pedestrians: watch out for each other. State officials warn that pedestrian deaths are continuing to rise in Texas, and now account for 1 in 5 of all traffic fatalities.

Scott makes All-State; Williams, Smith All-Region

Congratulations are in order for the following members of the Jayton Jaybirds 2020-21 basketball squad who earned top athletic honors. Tripp Scott was selected for the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches All-State team. Scott was also named All-Region Co-MVP with M.J. Thomas of Calvert.

Dickens County 4-H Horse Club Play Day Series

For the upcoming season of 4-H Horse Cllub Play Day events, organizers have set four age divisions: Lead line, 6 and under; PeeWee; 8 and under; Junior; 9-12; Senior, 13-18. State 4-H horse show rules will apply. Participants must take part in at least two play days to be eligible for prizes.
