Spur dominates in Jayton's Rolling Plains Relays

Text At the annual Rolling Plains Relays hosted by Jayton High School on Friday, March 26, Spur boys totaled 144 points, surpassing their next competitor by 49 points; and the Spur girls, with 120.5 points, exceeded host Jayton by 42.5 points.

Excellent season ahead for wild turkey

The forecast is in, and Rio Grande turkey season for Texas looks excellent. They had great production over most of their range the past couple of years— we even observed a single flock of 60 jakes in North Texas in 2020! Those birds are two years old now, and that means excellent hunting.

Gamma Eta celebrates 83rd birthday

The Gamma Eta Chapter of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society International celebrated its 83rd birthday March 1, 2021, at the First United Methodist Church in Spur. Eleven members and one visitor enjoyed a potluck meal, with three members joining the group by Zoom.

REGIONAL BOUND The Jayton One Act Play production of "Treasure Island" was selected to advance to the regional OAP conpetition April 15 in Post. Jayton competed Monday night at the bi-district One Act Play contest in Spur against seven different OAP companies.

Patton Springs School Students of the Month

Patton Springs’ Elementary student of the month is Emily Crawford, a 4th grader and the daughter of Brandy Missey and Chris Crawford of Spur. In her spare time, Emily enjoys playing Yu-gioh with her dad. Her favorite books are “A Quiet Place” and “Night Books.
