Kent County livestock show coming up Jan. 22–23

The 2021 Kent County Livestock Show at this point in time will proceed “as close to normal as possible” according to the show board, said Kent County extension agent Brandon Cave. The show is scheduled for Friday and Saturday, Jan. 15 and 16, 2021, at the Kent County Show Barn in Clairemont.

Jayton starts new year ranked in Top 10

The Jayton Jaybirds boys’ basketball team started the new year ranked at number 9 in the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches poll for January 5. The Jaybirds are nipping at the heels of district rival, Paducah, who is ranked number 8. Class 1A 1. Slidell (9-2) 2. Nazareth (5-5) 3.

Guthrie girls in Top 25

The Guthrie Lady Jaguars not only sit atop District 5-1A, which includes Spur, Jayton and Patton Springs, but for the week of January 5, in the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches are ranked in the Top 25 in the state. Class 1A 1. Nazareth (8-3) 2. Veribest (8-0) 3. Dodd City (10-0) 4.

Dickens County livestock show set for Jan. 22–23

It’s January, and rural Texans know what that means—Junior Livestock Stock time. Dickens County 4-H and FFA member are hard at work preparing their animals for 2021 event, will be held at the Spur Exhibition Barn Friday and Saturday, Jan. 22–23.

On Monday morning sixman football fans rejoiced at the news shared from Balmorhea ISD: “The Balmorhea vs. Richland Springs game is set for (Thursday) Jan. 5 at 6 p.m. We will be the home team at San Angelo. We are working on ticketing information and should have that available early this week.
