Spur varsity boys XC district runners-up, qualifies for regional

The Spur varsity cross country boys team finished as district runner-up and regional qualifiers. Some of the Bulldogs ran their personal bests, and the team was four points behind the district champion Jayton Jaybirds.

Greyhounds claim district title in Spur

You can’t win a football game in the first quarter, but you can lose one there. Such was the case for the Spur Bulldogs as they fell to the district champion Knox City Greyhounds 86–38 on Friday night.

Jaybirds overcome sluggish start at home for win over Jags

The Jayton Jaybirds entered last Friday’s game against the Guthrie Jaguars heavily favored to win at home in their district contest. Having only lost one game on the season, Jayton knew they would need to take care of business to ensure a perfect district record on their season.

CrossView cakes raise more than $1K at Punkin’ Day

At Floydada’s October 10 Punkin Day festival, CrossView Christian Camp raised $1,250.05 in funds from its annual cakewalk, to support its projects. “Punkin Day 2020 was sweet,” said development director Kassi Appleton. “And it was great to be around the people of our community!

Jaybirds bury Bearkats

The Jayton Jaybirds, who were originally scheduled to play Southland and then were rescheduled to play Throckmorton, wound up taking on the Garden City Bearkats last Friday night. Traveling to Garden City, the Jaybirds have become used to changing their plans and learning to adapt to a new opponent.

SHUT OUT

COURTESY PHOTO The Patton Springs Rangers fell 48-0 at home Friday night to the Motley County Matadors. The Matadors are now ranked number three in the state 1A-Division 2. The Matadors and the Rangers are in the same district this year due to UIL realignment.
