Tax Day moved from April 15 to July 15

The income tax filing date for U.S. filers has been pushed back from April 15, to July 15, Treasury secretary Steven Mnuchin said. Mnuchin announced the decision in a tweet Friday, saying that at President Donald Trump’s direction “we are moving Tax Day from April 15 to July 15.

Big Country Electric Cooperative cancels April 23 meeting, prepares to meet members’ needs

Health concerns postpone Texas Library Association conference, one of Texas’s largest

COVID-19, now at the pandemic stage, has been the cause of many event cancellations. The Texas Library Association’s Annual Conference to be held March 24–27, 2020 in Houston, was one of the victims. I received word on Wednesday that the conference had been cancelled due to health concerns.

UIL plans to complete all Spring sports State Championships

SAN ANTONIO—After four games, the University Interscholastic League pulled the plug on the boys’ state basketball tournament. It took awhile, but the UIL followed the lead of the NBA and NCAA by suspending the rest of the tournament Thursday afternoon.

Slidell stops Jayton; UIL stops state tournament

The best thing about Jayton’s 2020 state tournament appearance was that it happened. Many Texas teams never got to take the court after the University Interscholastic League suspended action on the 2020 boys’ basketball tournament as a response to concern over the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic.
