Jaybirds defeat Jaguars, remain unbeaten

With the fall weather finally settling in, Jayton Jaybird fans are looking forward to matchups that will influence playoff seedings. The Guthrie Jaguars challenged Jayton at home in their first district contest of the season.

4-H FORAY In livestock judging in Rising Star, the Dickens County 4-H team placed 6th with Mackenzie Gardner placing 5th overall, 5th in lamb and goats and 2nd in Swine, and Kimberlee Segura placing 10th in lambs and goats.

Jayton Girl Scout Lainey Baldridge earns top honor

Local Girl Scout Lainey Baldridge of Troop 7115 in Jayton was honored September 30 for her completion of the requirements for the Bronze Award, the highest honor a Junior Girl Scout can achieve. Community service remains at the heart of Girl Scouting and was the focus for this special honor.

Time for area high school students to compete in Youth Tour to Washington, DC

High school juniors and seniors can compete in three local contests for a chance to win an all-expense-paid trip to Washington, D.C., from June 12-21. Finalist students will interview with a panel of judges to convincingly explain why they should represent South Plains Electric Cooperative.

Week of Oct.103, 2019 Lake Alan Henry FAIR. Water clear 79–84 degrees; 3.80' low. Largemouth bass are good on rigged worms, spinner baits, and crank baits. White bass have been excellent on artificial shad. Crappie are fair on minnows and jigs. Catfish are fair on live bait and stink bait.

Spur put on an offensive show for a packed homecoming crowd in Jones Stadium Friday night as they shut out the O’Donnell Eagles 53-0. Going into the game Six-man.com ranked the ‘Dogs at number 10 in their six-man division in the state. Spur scored on its first possession.
