Spur falls to Silverton in District matchup

Spur opened district play on Friday Oct. 10, hosting Silverton Owls at Jones Stadium. Silverton took the victory with 29 points to Spur’s 14. Spur received the ball to start the game. #12 Willie Ortiz caught the ball and started the game with a 13-yard gain.

This week it was the D1 #9-ranked Newcastle Bobcats, but it was another 45-point victory for the Jaybirds, defeating Newcastle 61-15 early in the 3rd quarter. Credit Newcastle for coming out strong and matching the Jaybirds drive for drive early to the point of a 15-15 tie to end the first quarter.

Jayton junior high, high school XC teams win honors at last week’s meet

Jayton’s junior high and high school Jaybirds and Lady Jays competed at the 2nd Annual Jayton cross country meet last week. In team results, the high school Lady Jays finished in 1st place, while the high school Jaybirds finished in 2nd place.

Spur takes tough loss in O’Donnell

SPUR YEARBOOK STAFF Spur traveled to O’Donnell Oct. 3, 2025 for a game that wasn’t the outcome the Bulldogs desired, falling to the Eagles 58-14. The Bulldogs fought and showed more grit, heart, and determination on the field Friday.

The Jayton high school Jaybirds and Lady Jays competed at the Region I Preview at Mae Simmons in Lubbock Saturday, Sept. 27. The Jaybirds and Lady Jays were the meet champions. Individual medalists for the Lady Jays were Jace Chisum, 1st place, and Maci Scott, 6th place. For the Jaybirds, Sean Stanaland finished in 3rd place, Ben Baldridge in 14th, Tucker Scott in 21st, and Easton Bleiker in 23rd.
