Tuesday Scramble Recap, Sept. 16: We had 24 players show up ready to play, and six teams were formed. We had a 3-way tie, and it was decided that a scorecard playoff would be done.

Jaybirds overcome adversity in Valley

Winston Churchill is credited as saying, “Mountaintops inspire leaders, but valleys mature them.” The Jaybirds literally found themselves in the valley Friday night. It was one of those nights when circumstances weren’t favorable.

CHARLA PARSONS Tuesday Scramble Recap, Sept. 9: A total of 27 golfers turned out for this week’s scramble, forming six competitive teams. 1st place went to the team of Mike Day, Janie Day, James Hughes, and Kathy Hughes with an impressive score of 29 (7 under).

The Dickens County 4-H club is starting off the new year with a bang. The club had their first meeting of the year and held officer elections for 2025-2026.

In a showdown between two #1-ranked powerhouses, the Jayton Jaybirds left no doubt who rules the gridiron, steamrolling Pasadena First Baptist 56-8 and snapping their jaw-dropping 50-game winning streak. Jayton exploded out of the gate, dominating the first quarter with a stunning 26-0 lead.

JGISD invites public review of budget, tax rate in August meeting

On August 26, 2025 the Jayton-Girard Independent School District board of trustees held two meetings. The first was a public hearing during which the board invited public review of and feedback on two items: Proposed Budget for 2025-26 = $6,074,304, and Proposed Tax Rate for 2025-26 = $0.7892.
