The 3rd annual Hacker’s Tournament was held on May 21–22 at the Spur Golf Association. It was a great weekend of golf, and a good time was had by the 37 two-person teams who came out to participate.
PATTON FFA HONORS On May 5 Patton Springs competed in the District FFA contest. Eight banners were brought home; in addition, Patton had five area qualifying speeches and one district officer.
LEVELLAND—South Plains College congratulates the more than 1,300 students who received their academic degree or certificate on May 13, 2022. The following students from Spur and Jayton earned degrees and certificates:
MCMURRY SIGNING Brynn Yanez, who graduated from JGISD last week, also signed a letter of intent last week to run track with McMurry University in Abilene.
STATE HONORS Jayton's Daylee Chisum took 4th place at State in the 1600m at the State Track Meet in Austin. In the 3200, Chisum took 6th place and Jayton's Kamryn Nail took 9th.
The decade-long tradition continues as teams from across the area will converge in Spur June 10-11 for FBC Spur’s annual Coed Softball Tournament. The roster is already full this year with teams from Idalou, Crosbyton, Jayton and Spur. The Can-Tex Mounties return to defend their title against a mixed field of regulars and newcomers.
